B team JH Girls Basketball starts season off with a win.

November 13, 2014

The O'Neill Junior High girls basketball team traveled to Ewing on Tuesday night to kick off the 2014/15 Girls basketball season.  The B team got off to a slow start shooting the ball as they only scored 4 points in the first quarter.  The good news about the quarter was that they pitched a shut out on the defensive end and led 4 - 0 at the end of one quarter.  The girls settled down and started to hit some shots in the second quarter rattling off 16 points and led by a score of 20-2 at half.  The Eagles continued the scoring with a well balanced attack in the second half with 8 girls scoring on the night.  Makenna Fowler led the way for the Eagles scoring 12 points.  Makayla Hilker and Taya Rainforth each added 6 points.  Makenzie Parks and Cassidy Montgomery scored four points a piece while Mikyla Grenier, Morgan Breiner, and Chloe Scott scored two points to round out the scoring.  The Eagles ended up winning the game 38-13.  "This was a good starting point for the young squad, but there is much improvement that can be made on the offensive and defensive side of the ball", commented Coach Buller.  The JH is next in action on Thursday when they travel to Atkinson to take on the Atkinson Huskies.
